Brisbane City Council bus and Hyundai in road rage on Kessels Road Nathan

‘You broke my mirror’: Incredible moment ‘hero’ hatchback driver takes on a BUS which ‘ran a red light’ only to be rear-ended – but there’s two sides to this bizarre road rage

  • Brisbane City Council bus was seen running a red light in the suburb of Nathan
  • Dashcam footage showed moment a wannabe hero tried to confront the driver
  • Hyundai hatchback sped off hitting 104/km/h before pulling in front
  • Vehicles collided on Kessels Road on Monday at about 2.40pm

A hatchback driver who took umbrage with a bus driver he saw running a red light has sped off to confront him before the vehicles collided.

The road rage between the white Hyundai and a Brisbane City Council bus occurred on Kessels Road in Nathan, 10km from the CBD, on Monday at about 2.40pm.

Adam Walsh, who was behind the wheel of the hatchback, posted dashcam footage of the disturbing incident this week.

The video showed the bus going through a red light while taking a sharp right turn at a busy intersection.

The bus appears to swerve towards drivers lane before the car overtakes and the two collide

Mr Walsh then speeds off hitting speeds of 104km/h on the 60 km/h road to confront the driver.

He is heard yelling at the bus heading through an intersection ahead of him, ‘you ran a red light you f**ktard.’

Footage then appeared to show the bus swerving across dotted lines towards the hatchback in the neighbouring lane.

Mr Walsh drives past the bus and the audio is distorted but he told 7NEWS he ‘gestured to [the driver] that I thought he was a tosser’.

‘I then noticed in my side mirror that he accelerated quite rapidly and took a swerve towards the side of my car,’ he said.

Mr Walsh said he ‘came again a second time’ and connected with the car, knocking off his side mirror.

He then pulls in front of the bus and rearview footage shows the bus rear-ending the hatchback.

At one point Mr Walsh also yells out, ‘you f**ken broke my mirror.’

Brisbane City Council said they are conducting an investigation into the incident.

They said it appeared Mr Walsh was speeding on a 60 to 70 km/h road, as the dashcam footage shows his speed reaching 104km when he overtook the bus.

Mr Walsh denied braking in front of the bus and dashcam footage shoed the hatcback doing 61 km/h when the collision occurred.

‘I accelerated in front of him to try to slow him down to get this attention to try and pull over so we could talk about what happened,’ he said.

‘I know in the footage it appears I slowed down quite rapidly, but that section of the road has quite a steep incline.’
