Camilla Duchess of Cornwall’s family tree shows she is related to many celebrities

It may have been a rocky road for Camilla Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Charles to reach their happy ending but it turns out the pair have been connected since birth.

The Duchess, who will turn 72 on July 17, has quite the star-studded family tree with her lineage being traced back to royalty even before she became an HRH.

Born Camilla Rosemary Shand and then known as Camilla Parker Bowles after her first marriage to Andrew, she has links to Madonna, Celine Dion and even Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Here is a look at other familial connections you might not know about.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, is connected to a handful of famous names through her ancestry, including her husband Prince Charles.

Madonna

Aside from their signature blonde locks, Madonna and Camilla seem to have nothing in common. But, while they appear to hail from opposite sides of the universe, these two actually share a few branches of the same family tree.

The Like A Prayer singer, 60, and the Duchess both hail from the bloodline of 17th French-Canadians Madeleine Ernard and Zacharie Cloutier. The couple was considered part of the high society of Canada and the connection makes Madonna and Camilla 10th cousins.

Celine Dion

Madonna isn’t the only distant relative of Camilla’s who can carry a tune. Through the same connection, famous Canadian singer Celine Dion, 51, also finds herself linked to the British Royal.

The two are also descendants of Cloutier who was born in France in 1617. He later moved to Quebec, Canada, where he worked as a carpenter and lived in a 100-person colony. Like with Madonna, Dion and the Duchess are 10th cousins.

Angelina Jolie

The Hollywood connections of Duchess Camilla never seem to end. She is also a distant relative of one of the entertainment world’s biggest movie stars: Angelina Jolie.

This could explain why the Tomb Raider actress, 44, and the Royal have sprouted a friendship over the years, following Jolie’s damehood honor in 2014 and their joint charitable efforts through the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy. They are ninth cousins.

Justin Trudeau

The Duchess’s family branch stretches into the world of politics also. Canada’s current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is a distant relative. Camilla is a daughter of a 9th cousin of the Scottish and French Canadian politician, making them 10th cousins.

Trudeau has developed a friendly relationship with the Royals, through several meetings including a State Visit in 2018 and the 2016 Invictus Games.

Duchess Camilla’s Canadian musical connections run deep. She is also related to Ontario-born pop singer Justin Bieber.

They both share Celine Dion as a distant cousin and appear to be linked together as descendants of French Canadian settlers.

Yes, another famous Canadian is on the list! Camilla is related to Shania Twain through the lineage of Zacharie Cloutier, a French carpenter who emigrated to Canada in 1634, and Jean Guyon-Dion.

Prince Charles

Becoming family members seemed to be an act of destiny for Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla. Aside from their marital connection, the duo is linked in a couple of other ways.

First, Camilla’s great grandmother is Alice Keppel, the mistress of King Edward VII, who is Prince Charles’s great-great-grandfather. According to the book, ‘Notorious Royal Marriages: A Juicy Journey Through Nine Centuries of Dynasty, Destiny, and Desire’, Camilla remarked: ‘My great-grandmother and your great-great grandfather were lovers so — how about it?’ during their first meeting.

And if that tie isn’t strong enough, Camilla and Charles also share ancestry via Henry Cavendish, the 2nd Duke of Newcastle, a connection that makes them ninth cousins. Charles is a descendant of Cavendish’s oldest daughter, Margaret, while Camilla is a descendant of the Duke’s youngest daughter, Catherine.
