Caroline Flack ‘jets back to the UK after quitting booze amid Love Island return claims’

Caroline Flack has jetted back to the UK following a relaxing break in Los Angeles, after reportedly being told by ITV bosses she can return as Love Island host if she is cleared of assault.

The presenter, 40, was reportedly spotted out and about in London on Saturday, as sources also told the publication she’s given up alcohol ahead of her TV comeback.

Last month Caroline announced that she was stepping down from Love Island after she was arrested for assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton, with Laura Whitmore stepping in as her replacement.

In the pictures obtained by The Sun Caroline was the picture of happiness as she stepped out for the low-key outing in relaxing gym-wear.

The star was last spotted leaving the UK at Heathrow airport on December 29, with sources claiming she’d jetted to LA to clear her head and escape the scrutiny around her trial.

Sources have now claimed that Caroline is in a much better place and has given up alcohol in preparation for her TV comeback.

They said: ‘Caroline has not touched alcohol since before Christmas and has been getting to the gym every day.’

The publication also claimed that Love Island bosses would like to have Caroline back as host for the next series in the summer, if she is cleared of assaulting Lewis following her trial, which is scheduled to being in March.

The source added: ‘Caroline has been told Love Island want her back for the next series. Laura has done a great job so far but the show’s bosses don’t feel she has the same pull.’

This year’s Love Island has seen a dip in ratings, with 800,000 less viewers tuning into the launch episode.

It was also reported that Caroline is planning to move back in with her boyfriend Lewis once the trial comes to an end.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Caroline Flack, Love Island and Laura Whitmore for comment.

Caroline appeared in court over the incident with her beau in December – where a judge heard she hit the former tennis player over the head with a lamp.

The court was told she read texts on Lewis’ phone that made her think he was cheating on her before the alleged attack.

She and her partner Lewis were both allegedly covered in blood when police arrived at their flat in Islington, North London, on December 12, with Lewis saying in a 999 call that she ‘tried to kill me, mate’, Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court heard.

One officer described the chaotic scene as ‘like a horror movie’.

Lewis was said to have been ‘almost begging the operator to send help’ with his face ‘covered in blood’, while Caroline allegedly had two cuts to her wrist.

After being taken into custody, former X Factor host Caroline – whom the court heard was ‘manipulative’ towards Lewis and accused him of ruining her life – allegedly flipped over a table and had to be restrained on the ground by police.

Her boyfriend was allegedly left with ‘significant head injuries’.

Caroline pleaded not guilty to common assault and the court heard she wanted to ‘spend time’ with him over the Christmas and New Year period, but she was banned from communicating with him until her trial.

The judge gave Caroline’s legal team until January 20 next year to provide further evidence to the court.

She put her head in her hands as the judge refused an application to remove bail conditions preventing her from contacting Lewis directly or indirectly and from attending his address.

Following her arrest, Caroline announced she would be stepping down as Love Island host, with ITV later announcing that Laura would replace her.

Bosses have not confirmed whether Caroline will be returning as host for the winter series, though sources previously claimed the door would be left open for her return.
