The man walked in to the café on Franklin Street in the heart of the CBD about 1.15pm on Tuesday and ordered a coffee.

‘I was in the office, it was a pretty quiet time, there wasn’t really anyone in at the time,’ Stuart said.

While the barista was serving the customer, he can be seen on CCTV looking around the near-empty café before he grabs the jar off the counter, drops it into a small black bag, and hustles out.

‘He literally looks and goes ‘you know what I can do it’ and dashed off,’ Public Cafe’s manager said.

‘He bought a coffee and never came back. He got a lot more than he would’ve paid.’

‘What a low life!’ one person replied to the video.

Another person suggested the man could be easily found if he’d checked in before entering the café.

‘Wonder if he checked in? Can they cross reference CCTV and QR code’s?’ the man wrote.
