Celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath launches STAR WARS beauty range

The frenzied excitement over the new, and final, Star Wars movie in the nine-part Skywalker series has spread to every corner of the galaxy – even the beauty industry.

Celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath has become the latest in a long line of experts to celebrate the upcoming George Lucas movie with the launch of a themed range of products, debuting her own Star Wars collection in anticipation of the film’s release.

Widely considered to be something of a beauty Jedi herself, this is not the first time that Pat has collaborated with the movie franchise; the 49-year-old released a range of products for Covergirl back in 2015, when Star Wars: Episode VIII—The Force Awakens was released.

Out of this world: Celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath has launched a Star Wars-themed beauty collection ahead of the launch of the latest movie in the series

Having since launched her own wildly-successful brand, Pat has returned with what is described as ‘an obsessively opulent collaboration where the realms of entertainment and beauty magically collide’.

The new collection – which is currently available for pre-order on the beauty pro’s website – features seven products: three eyeshadow palettes and four lip shades, all of which feature a Star Wars-themed spin on Pat’s signature packaging.

Three main characters in the new sequel get their own nods in the range – C-3PO, R2-D2, and the Red Guard – while two products within the collection were simply designed in the bold gold shade that has become synonymous with Pat’s branding, along with the iconic Star Wars logo.

‘This resplendent array for eyes and lips applies Pat McGrath’s iconic artistry to Star Wars favorites, including C-3PO and R2-D2, plus the brand new Sith Trooper [the Red Guard] featured in the new film,’ the brand said in a statement.

And while Pat was certainly excited to celebrate the milestone moment of the final Star Wars x Skywalker movie release, for her the project had a much more personal feel to it.

‘We are so excited to work with Disney on this brilliant collaboration celebrating the intergalactic beauty of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,’ she said, before adding: ‘The Star Wars characters have become integrated into our culture in such a MAJOR way that it’s hard to imagine a world without them!

‘Anyone who follows me on social media knows I am obsessed with Star Wars. From the rebellious beauty of Princess Leia to the gilded glamour of C-3PO.’

Given the significance of the new Star Wars launch, Pat decided to combine it with another important moment for her brand – the return of the incredibly popular Mothership IV: Decadence palette, which sold out almost instantly when it was last released.

‘I’m thrilled to combine the limited edition release of this collection with the highly awaited return of the sold out sensation that was the Mothership IV: Decadence Eye Palette,’ Pat shared.

‘Fans have been asking me daily for its return. I’m thrilled that it’s back in cult collectable gold packaging – the ultimate gilty pleasure. I suggest all my fellow beauty-loving Star Wars fans snatch theirs quick before they are forever gone to a galaxy far far away.’

Prices in the collection range from $40 for one of the lip shades – of which there are four – to $125 for the returning Decadence palette. Other palettes in the range, which contain six shades as opposed to Decadence’s ten, are priced at $65 each.

Pat’s new collection follows in the footsteps of a slew of similar Star Wars-themed releases from other brands, including an entire range of Instant Pots that quickly took the internet by storm.

The five special-edition Instant Pot designs are made to look like different Star Wars characters, including R2-D2, BB-8, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and a Stormtrooper.

The collection is exclusively available on Williams Sonoma’s website and is expected to be in stores by December 13, just a week before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.

The least expensive version is the $79.95 three-quart mini pressure cooker which looks like BB-8 — but a bit less round.

‘From astromech and protocol droids to hungry X-Wing pilots, the members of Resistance are raving about this special edition Star Wars™ Instant Pot,’ the item’s description reads.

For $99.95, shoppers can buy six-quart Instant Pots inspired by Darth Vader, a Stormtrooper, and R2-D2.
