Celtic 1-1 St Johnstone: Substitute Mohamed Elyounoussi saves under-fire Celtic from another setback

Celtic 1-1 St Johnstone: Substitute Mohamed Elyounoussi saves under-fire boss Neil Lennon from ANOTHER setback with Hoops now 13 points off league leaders Rangers

  • Celtic failed to answer the critics with a poor performance against St Johnstone
  • Christopher Kane scored with ten minutes left for Callum Davidson’s side
  • Substitute Mohamed Elyounoussi made an instant impact with a late equaliser
  • The result leaves them 13 points off Rangers and heaps pressure on Neil Lennon

Celtic scored a dramatic late goal to deny St Johnstone a famous win at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon but failed to lift mounting pressure on boss Neil Lennon.

The Saints were agonisingly close to victory in Glasgow after Christopher Kane’s close-range effort ten minutes from time.

But replacement Mohamed Elyounoussi headed in Ryan Christie’s cross with seven minutes left – two minutes after coming on himself – to leave Celtic 13 points off fierce rivals Rangers in what is rapidly becoming a one-sided Scottish Premiership title race.

The result means under-fire Hoops manager Lennon is winless since a 4-1 victory away at Motherwell on November 8, with three losses and a draw in between.

More to follow.
