London rivals Chelsea and West Ham are reportedly interested in a potential January move for England Under 18 left back Matthew Bondswell from RB Leipzig.

Teenager Bondswell moved to Germany from Nottingham Forest back in 2018, when he joined up with the Leipzig academy at the Red Bull Arena.

The 18-year-old joined Dutch second division side FC Dordrecht in August this year on a season-long loan in search for regular game-time.

And according to the Telegraph, both Chelsea and West Ham are keeping tabs on Bondswell’s situation ahead of a possible return to his homeland in January.

However, the Premier League sides will face competition from Sporting Lisbon, who are also reportedly admirers of the young left back.

Bondswell is viewed as a player who has the potential to make it in the Premier League and provide competition with those at left back.

However, Chelsea and West Ham would both need to tempt him away from Leipzig as he looks to continue his development abroad.

Leipzig have snatched up some of England’s brightest talents in recent years, having persuaded the likes of Emile Smith-Rowe and Ademola Lookman to join the club for brief stints.

Bondswell spent eight years as part of Nottingham Forest’s academy between 2010 and 2018 before joining Leipzig.
