Chelsea’s ‘mood in the camp is good’ since Thomas Tuchel’s transformation, says Fikayo Tomori who keeps in touch with his team-mates – and defender is relaxed about his future despite not having ‘had anything’ from German boss since joining AC Milan on loan

On-loan AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has revealed he hasn’t heard from Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel since leaving, but understands that all is well at Stamford Bridge according to his team-mates at his parent club.
Tomori joined the Italian giants on loan until the end of the season from the Blues on January 22 after featuring just four times for the club under Tuchel’s predecessor Frank Lampard.
Four days after Tomori joined AC Milan, Tuchel was appointed as Chelsea’s new manager on an 18-month deal following Lampard’s dismissal.

They are unbeaten in Tuchel’s first 11 games – winning eight of those as they build momentum
Chelsea have been revitalised since Tuchel’s arrival, with the club unbeaten in his 11 games in charge – winning eight of those. To boot they have scored 13 times and conceded just twice.
Academy graduate Tomori touches base regularly with his Chelsea team-mates and says they have been impressed so far by the German.
‘Obviously I’ve spoken to people at Chelsea. They’re not only team-mates, they’re also friends so we all check up on each other to see how we’re all doing,’ he said on Wednesday afternoon at AC Milan’s pre-match press conference ahead of Thursday’s Europa League last-16 first-leg encounter at Manchester United.
‘A lot of the time we’re not talking about football but about general life.
‘The mood in the camp there from what I understand is good. A lot of them are playing games, scoring goals and playing well so I’m sure it’s all going well.’
But despite his parent club having a new man at the helm, Tomori says he hasn’t been contacted by Tuchel about his future in west London. However, this isn’t something that he is fazed about with both focusing on their current situations in England and Italy.

‘Personally, I haven’t had anything from the manager himself but obviously he’s got his own players there to worry about so I’m sure it will be difficult for him to message me.
‘It’s nothing that I’m worried about, I’m focused on here and I’m sure he’s the same at Chelsea.’
The 23-year-old himself is playing well at AC Milan, featuring eight times for the club and yet to lose when starting for them. He has already impressed sporting director Paolo Maldini enough for the renowned former Italy international to indicate the Serie A club’s interest in a permanent £25million deal this summer.
Asked about Maldini’s comments, the one-capped England international said: ‘It’s a good feeling and to hear something like this obviously gives me confidence, but I just want to carry on doing what I’m doing that’s got me to this stage and go even further.
‘I’m not really focused too much on what can happen in the future, it’s just more about me playing well for the team and doing what I can for myself right now and helping the team as much as possible. Then what happens in the future will happen.
‘But obviously it’s very nice to hear that from one, if not the, greatest defenders to have played the game.’
