Chrissy Teigen defended herself on social media Wednesday after she was accused of tone-deafness in sharing an anecdote about a $13,000 dollar wine bottle she and husband John Legend once shared.

Teigen, 35, asked her 13.6 million Twitter followers, ‘What’s the most expensive thing you’ve eaten that you thought sucked?’ and added, ‘one time john and I were at a restaurant and the waiter recommended a nice Cabernet. 

‘We got the bill and it was 13,000 dollars. HOW DO U CASUALLY RECOMMEND THAT WINE. we didn’t even finish it and it had been cleared!!!’ she said.

The Sports Illustrated swimsuit alum was inundated with a number of messages from users who said she was cavalier talking about finances like that amid a pandemic that has led to monetary anxiety for many people.

One user worth: ‘That’s over half what I make in a year. I work with children who’ve been abused and removed from their homes. You accidentally spent more on old grape juice than I see in six months and that was annoying for you. This system, any system that allows this, is a f***ing farce.’

When one person wrote, ‘People are not going to relate to this,’ Teigen replied she ‘didn’t say it was and doesn’t have to be. Should I be tiptoeing.’

The Utah-born stunner acknowledged that aspects of her life are different and that she understands as such.

‘Honestly, I will be that person for you,’ Teigen said. ‘It is fun to gang up on me. I *see* the convos that bring you together in your owning of me. I make it easy. have fun.’

Teigen remains coping with the grief of losing baby son Jack in September, as the child was stillborn as result of a partial placental abruption.

‘I truly feel kicks in my belly, but it’s not phantom,’ Teigen wrote Wednesday. ‘I have surgery for endometriosis tomorrow…but the period feeling this month is exactly like baby kicks. sigh.’
