Coronation Street’s Katie McGlynn reveals plans to jet off to LA in an attempt to break Hollywood following her NTAs victory

She bagged the Serial Drama Performance award during Tuesday’s National Television Awards for her portrayal of Coronation Street‘s Sinead Tinker. 

And following her incredible victory, Katie McGlynn has revealed that she’s set her sights on Hollywood. 

Speaking after her big win, the actress, 26, explained that she plans to jet off to LA in a bid to ‘chase her dreams’.

She told The Mirror: ‘I’m planning to go to LA at some point. It’s just fitting it in. I’ve got some personal projects that I want to do. I’ve had some weird and wonderful meetings for this year.

‘But I’m definitely going to go to LA at some point and chase my dream. If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen but I need to try.’

Revealing how she feels about potentially starting a new life away from the ITV soap’s cobbles, Katie added: ‘It is nerve-racking but it’s exciting. We’re all here on Earth to have an exciting time.’

The added that she’s love to play ‘a sassy or evil role’, and wants to do something she could really ‘get my teeth into’.

Speaking fondly about her time of Corrie, she told how she has ‘so many memories’, having practically ‘grew up’ on the show. 

Katie joined the cobbles as joined the ITV soap in 2013 and left last year amid her character Sinead’s heartbreaking death from cervical cancer.

During Tuesday’s NTAs, Katie thanked her Corrie co-workers as well as her late grandfather for their support duriung her emotional acceptaance speech. 

In disbelief, Katie admitted she was ‘humbled’ that producers had ‘trusted’ her with Sinead’s cancer storyline, confessing: ‘I am shocked I even got nominated for this award.

She went on to thank her on-screen husband Rob Mallard (Daniel Osbourne) saying that she ‘loved every minute’ of working with him.

Growing emotional, Sinead then paid tribute to her late grandfather, who had encouraged her to pursue her acting career.

‘I want to thank someone who’s not here tonight,’ she began. ‘My granddad who passed away.

‘He’s always supported me through my acting, he took me to all my acting classes and when I was younger, he took me to all my auditions.’

Katie recalled that after landing her first TV role, her grandfather had quipped: ‘I’m happy with that but when are you going to be in Coronation Street?’

Tragically, he passed away a month before she was offered the part of Sinead Tinker.

Katie concluded her speech by announcing: ‘This award is for anyone who is going through cervical cancer or has had cervical cancer and their families. Stay strong.’
