Dancing On Ice judge John Barrowman compares Caprice’s split from Hamish Gaman to a divorce

She sent the show into disarray when she split from her professional skating partner Hamish Gaman.

And Dancing On Ice judge John Barrowman, 52, has compared Caprice, 48, and Hamish Gaman’s professional parting to a divorce, as he insisted he’s ‘trying not to take sides.’

It comes after Caprice narrowly dodged being eliminated from Dancing On Ice after returning to the rink with her new professional partner Oscar Peter, as the duo were saved by the judges after performing in the skate-off.

Speaking to The Mirror at the National Television Awards, John said: ‘We’ve just had a divorce in the family and that’s it and like any divorce that you have in the family as a family member you try not to take sides.

‘We love both of them and Caprice is now skating with Oscar.

‘Everybody’s doing fine. They don’t have to get along with each other, they just have to get along with it.’

John also said that Hamish – who remains part of the show’s professional lineup – is doing well amid the controversy, and they have been skating together for fun.

It comes after Caprice put on a brave face to make a solo appearance on the NTAs red carpet amidst the ongoing speculation surrounding her split from Hamish.

This week, she appeared to take a thinly veiled swipe at her former skating partner, 36, by insisting her new partner, Oscar Peter, has been ‘the epitome of kindness’.

The model took to Instagram and shared a photo of her and Oscar embracing warmly on the ice after another day of rehearsals.

She wrote: ‘Great training session today with my skating partner @_oscarpeter he has been a pillar of strength and the epitome of kindness … #soblessed … and so unbelievably talented bring on Sunday.’

The supermodel failed to address the reason behind Hamish being axed as her pro partner when she returned to the ice on Sunday, but found herself in the bottom two amid confusion from viewers at home.

It has been claimed that Caprice will divulge her side of the story once she has been booted from the show, as she is ‘keeping it professional’.

The pair were announced to have split at the start of Sunday’s show after allegedly refusing to work together, with Caprice branded a ‘lazy diva’ according to one report.

Sources close to Caprice told The Sun Online: ‘Something happened – Caprice can’t talk about it because she’s on the show but she will.

‘She desperately wants to get her side across and reveal what happened but until she’s off the show it’s business as usual. She’s keeping it professional.’

Caprice reportedly threatened to quit following the first live show after finding Hamish’s behaviour manipulative, telling bosses that he had allegedly ‘gaslighted’ her.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Caprice felt she was being pushed far too hard by Hamish in training and said she felt bullied.’

They added: ‘To hear she’s being mocked as a diva because she refused to work with him any longer has been really upsetting for Caprice and she’s not happy.’

However, an ITV spokesperson denied the claims and told MailOnline: ‘We have seen no evidence of the alleged bullying on Dancing on Ice and strongly refute any suggestion to the contrary.’

Caprice returned to the show on Sunday with Oscar. The pair were up against Radzi Chinyanganya and his partner Jessica Hatfield in last weeks skate off, but they managed to be saved by all four judges.

Earlier in the episode Caprice referenced her partner swap and simply said: ‘I missed last week because I’m no longer skating with Hamish.’

Caprice went on to say that her first live performance was ‘overwhelming’ and she was ‘nervous and excited’ for Sunday’s routine with her new partner.
