Danny Cipriani has joined Bath, with the club set to confirm the signing on Tuesday.

Since leaving Gloucester in December, Cipriani, 33, has been weighing up his options after interest and offers from the Premiership, France and Japan.

Speaking exclusively to Sportsmail in January, the former England fly-half said: ‘For me, it’s about being part of an exciting project. English rugby is not ruled out.

‘I’d love another shot at trying to win the Premiership title.’

Cipriani has signed a one-year deal at the Rec, with an option to extend his stay.

Bath have been on the look-out for a fly-half for some time and stepped up their search because Rhys Priestland is returning to Wales at the end of the season.

Cipriani is expected to join the club during this campaign but is unlikely to play until the start of the next one.

He has been doing sprint training and working on his kicking with Jonny Wilkinson.
