Denmark vs Finland will RESUME at 7.30pm UK time after match was earlier suspended when Christian Eriksen collapsed during the first half

  • Christian Eriksen collapsed onto the pitch during Denmark’s match with Finland 
  • The 29-year-old needed urgent CPR treatment on the pitch in distressing scenes 
  • Eriksen is now awake and stable in hospital and the match will now resume

Denmark’s match will Finland will resume at 7.30pm UK time following Christian Eriksen‘s shock collapse on the pitch earlier in the afternoon. 

The midfielder collapsed towards the end of the first-half and needed urgent resuscitation before being carried off the pitch whilst sitting up and wearing an oxygen mask. 

The Danish FA confirmed that the 29-year-old is now awake and stabilised in hospital and is receiving further checks, with the match now set to resume this evening.

The statement from the Denmark FA saidL ‘Christian Eriksen is awake and his condition remains stable. He remains hospitalised at Rigshospitalet for further examinations. 

‘The match against Finland will be played tonight. This happens after the players have been confirmed that Christian is okay. The match resumes at 20.30.’

UEFA confirmed that both sets of players wanted the game to resume tonight and the match will see the first-half resume, followed by a five-minute half-time break and then the second-half. 

The statement read: ‘Following the request made by players of both teams, UEFA has agreed to restart the match between Denmark and Finland tonight at 20:30 CET (TBC). 

‘The last five minutes of the first half will be played, there will then be a 5-minute half-time break followed by the second half.’
