Dillian Whyte weighs-in five pounds lighter than he was for KO defeat last year for Povetkin rematch

Dillian Whyte weighs-in five pounds lighter than he was for his brutal KO defeat last year but will still have more than a ONE STONE advantage over Alexander Povetkin for Saturday’s heavyweight rematch in Gibraltar

  • Dillian Whyte looked in supreme shape as he tipped the scales at a lean 247lbs
  • The Brixton heavyweight came in five pounds lighter then he was for first fight
  • Whyte will hold a one stone and four lbs advantage over Alexander Povetkin

Dillian Whyte has trimmed down five pounds for his heavyweight rematch with Alexander Povetkin in Gibraltar on Saturday night.

The Brixton heavyweight tipped the scales at a lean 247lbs, but will still hold more than a one stone advantage over Povetkin as he looks to claim revenge over the hard-hitting Russian.

Whyte, who was knocked out by Povetkin last August in stunning fashion, took one last look into his opponent’s eyes on Friday as the pair faced off in another tense stare off before exchanging fist bumps.

Povetkin, meanwhile, came in four lbs heavier than he was for their first fight, and will be hoping that extra weight will be felt when he goes to war with Whyte for the second time.

Whyte, who surrendered his position as the No-1 ranked fighter with the WBC after being knocked out by Povetkin, has vowed to do whatever it takes to win their ‘Rumble on the Rock’ clash on Saturday night.

He said: ‘This fight is a big fight, it’s as big as any world title fight.

‘I’m just glad that the people of Gibraltar have made this happen and it’s going to be rocking and jumping on Saturday night, it’s going to be like York Hall.

‘This is the most important fight of my career, I’m used to bouncing back and proving people wrong. Everyone keeps going on about the defeat, but it’s nothing. I’m improving, I’m getting better every day and on Saturday I’m coming to leave it all on the line again.

‘The main thing is getting the win, I hate losing, I want to make it 1-1. I’ll do whatever I need to do.’
