A Liberal Senator has had an on-the-nose moment after he was caught on camera appearing to pick his nose and eat it during a committee meeting.

Footage uploaded to Twitter on Monday shows NSW Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg appear to pick his nose then place his finger in his mouth as he looks down at his notes.

The cringeworthy moment was caught during a recent Environment and Communications Legislation Committee estimates hearing in Canberra.

While Mr Bragg appeared to be unaware the act was caught on camera, the moment did catch the attention of Deputy Labor leader Richard Marles.

‘As usual, the Liberals are eating their own…’ Mr Marles wrote.

Some Twitter users labelled the footage ‘disgusting’ while others were quick to poke fun at the Senator.

‘Be fair, there’s hardly time to go out and have lunch. Gotta provide your own snacks,’ wrote one person.

‘Looking for Scotty…sorry, I mean Snotty,’ commented another.

‘That’s lunch, everyone!’ added a third.

Mr Bragg was elected as Liberal Senator for New South Wales in 2019 and is Chair of the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee.

Prior to his election to Federal Parliament Mr Bragg was an author of several books and an accountant.
