An Australian musician who once captured the attention of global superstar Ed Sheeran with his YouTube videos is selling his unique treetop home on a remote hillside.

Melbourne street performer Benjamin Stanford – better known by stage name Dub FX – is moving on from his three-bedroom treetop retreat, which is surrounded by lush forest in the Dandenong Ranges, 35 kilometres east of Melbourne, Victoria.

The star, who shot to fame with hits ‘Love Someone’ and ‘Flow’ on YouTube in the late Noughties, used the home as a sanctuary during downtime from his hectic touring schedule.

Flanked by towering trees and leafy bushland, the house features a sprawling open plan kitchen and living room, a master ensuite bedroom, complete with a sauna and luxury spa bath, and an outdoor timber terrace perfect for entertaining.

Sheeran has used a loop pedal - a musical device which records an exact replica of a melody which is then played back with the tap of a foot - to perform his record-breaking tours single-handedly since 2011

The retreat is perfect for young families, with a private garden at the back for adults to relax in while children play in a three-storey cubby house.

Enormous skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows offer incredible views of the surrounding forest, bringing a sense of the outdoors into almost every room.

Bohemian hammocks and hanging chairs made from woven rattan decorate the living spaces inside the artistic home, which is filled with printed rugs, indoor plants and ropes of twinkling fairy lights.

Natural materials dominate, with stone benches in the kitchen, Australian timber bed frames in each bedroom and cedar wood walls and ceilings throughout the house.

Standout facilities include a double car garage with an attached workshop, ideal for a home office or kids’ play area, underfloor storage space beneath the house and a home studio where Stanford recorded his latest album.

One of his best known tracks, Flow, caught the attention of Ed Sheeran who was impressed by his use of loop pedal, a musical device which records an exact replica of a melody which is then played back with the tap of a foot.

Sheeran has used a loop pedal to perform his record-breaking tours without the help of an orchestra or supporting band since 2011.

‘He wrote that the first guy he saw looping was me,’ Stanford told RealEstate.com.au.

Bell Real Estate agent Elliot Bell said the property would appeal to creatively minded, artistic buyers.

‘The way it’s been constructed, it’s almost like a treehouse. It’s been designed to take advantage of those basically 180-degree views out into the forest,’ he said.

The treehouse has an asking price guide of $900,000 to $990,000 AUD.
