The Duchess of Cornwall has sent thoughtful thank you cards to royal well-wishers who wrote to her at Christmas

Camilla, 73, sent a candid photo of her smiling in the sunshine along with a message that reads: ‘Thank you so much for your very kind Christmas message. I send you my warmest wishes for a healthy and happy New Year.’

A photo of the card was shared on Instagram by royal fan account katsroyalletters.

Fellow royal fans were impressed with the note, with one commenting: ‘Beautiful! Hoping to get mine soon.’

Another wrote: ‘What a nice reply! Congratulations!’ A third added: ‘She is amazing!!! Who else sends personaly signed cards/letters to well-wishers????’

While the body of the note was typed, the recipient’s name was written by hand and the Duchess signed ‘with best wishes Camilla’ in pen. 

The photo of the Duchess was taken last August at an event commemorating the 75th anniversary of VJ Day at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

For the event, Camilla dressed in an elegant cream ensemble complete with an extravagant hat. 

In the photo the Duchess is seen smiling over her shoulder with a piece of paper in her hand. 

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have kept a low profile since Christmas. 

On Saturday the couple joined other senior royals in wishing the Duchess of Cambridge a happy 39th birthday.
