eBay removes listing selling three ex-Cold War nuclear cabins for £15,000 each that promised the ‘ultimate protection’ from coronavirus

Three ex-Cold War nuclear cabins that offer ‘full protection’ to those living in fear of catching coronavirus have been removed from eBay after being listed for £15,000 each.
The listing was against the company’s disaster and tragedy policy, which bans members from selling items that ‘attempt to profit from human tragedy of suffering’ or are ‘insensitive’ to victims of such events.
The biological green-coloured, aluminium cabins were said to protect against viruses including COVID-19.

The advert claimed the NBC Marconi cabins, which were listed as collection only from Pembrokeshire, are chemical-proof, fully operational, accommodate two people and also protect against EMP (explosion of electromagnetic energy).
They were said to be originally built as secure military command-post cabins and cost the Government £250,000 each before being sold off.
They have previously been used for storage and limited research use for RN projects, according to the old advert.
The seller’s father is thought to have bought them from the MoD’s surplus company ‘Ramco’, unused, around 12 years ago at £200 each to use within her father’s old company as ‘weather-balloon’ test chambers.
The woman, who asked not to be named, said: ‘I’ve even used one as a mobile recording studio!
‘They boast a ‘positive’ air pressure system which allows totally charcoal and dust filtered air in, no dust, no viruses, no radiation, using the same system as Porton Down’s research labs.
‘They are even protected from incoming radio emissions to ‘Tempest Codeword’ standard!
‘Comfortable, air conditioned, big enough for two adults – and totally secure – just what the person who has everything needs in the virus-laden world of the future. One potential buyer even wanted to ship them to his island home in Scotland!’

The advert’s description says the three cabins are in ‘good condition’, need ‘cleaning externally’ and are ‘made to last’. At the time of writing, five people were watching the item
It was claimed the cabins are ex-Phoenix UAV programme 1998 – 2008 (Royal Artillery) and are based on a cold war NBC design which was then updated to the Army’s spec for UAV use.
They were said to be unused and new when bought from Ramco UK Ltd, an auction house in Skegness.
The seller previously said buyers must view the items – currently stored near Cardigan, West Wales, before bidding and visitors were warned they will be subject to strict pre-ID clearance conditions.
Fitted with positive pressure carbon filter systems and Magnehelix pressure controllers, they were described as used, in a good condition but needed cleaning externally and made to last.
It comes as shoppers have been panic buying houseware essentials such as toilet roll and anti-bacterial hand wash as well as face masks in the fight against COVID-19.
An eBay spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘These items are banned from eBay’s platform.
‘The listings have been removed and we have taken necessary enforcement action against the sellers.’
