Ed Sheeran, Pink, Elton John and more are tipped to perform at Sound Relief concerts in aid of bushfire victims

Ed Sheeran, Pink, Elton John and Bruce Springsteen are tipped to perform at a Sound Relief concert in aid of Australian bushfire victims.

Australian promoter Michael Gudinski co-organised the first Sound Relief concerts in 2009, which helped victims of Victorian bushfires and Queensland floods.

Speaking to the ABC (via Herald Sun), Michael said: ‘Two people at the top of my list are Sir Elton (John) who has spent so much time here and is such a generous person, he’s already donated a million bucks, and his little mate Ed Sheeran.’

Tickled Pink! 'Pink is a phenomenon here, Kylie (Minogue). It's too early to tell you the line-up,' promoter Michael Gudinski said

The legendary promoter, who also owns Frontier Touring and Mushroom Group, said he is currently in talks with the Shape Of You singer as well as Bruce Springsteen.

‘I’ve had notes from Ed Sheeran, who is so special in this market,’ he said.

‘Bruce Springsteen’s management sent me a note. I know how many people love and respect that guy and how serious his music is’.

He also hinted at two pop starlets gracing Australian shores: ‘Pink is a phenomenon here, Kylie (Minogue). It’s too early to tell you the line-up.’

However, Michael said at this stage he’s ‘got no one signed up’.

Frontier touring will join forces with Chugg Entertainment, Live Nation, Secret Sounds and IMC to produce the Sound Relief 2020 concert, according to Michael.

A heavyweight in the Australian music industry, Michael has helped Drake, Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, the Arctic Monkeys, Justin Timberlake and Harry Styles perform across the country.

He was also responsible for signing up Taylor Swift to perform at the Melbourne Cup last year before she bailed after backlash from animal rights activists.

The original Sound Relief concerts were held at the Melbourne and Sydney Cricket Grounds in 2009, raising $8million dollars.

Taylor Swift, Coldplay, The Presets, Jet, Barry Gibb and Olivia Newton-John were some of the big names that rocked the Sydney concert.

Meanwhile, the Melbourne show also featured Jet as well as Kylie Minogue, Kings of Leon, Midnight Oil, Bliss N Eso and Paul Kelly among others.
