Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Molly, late last month. 

And the journalist, 36, has reflected upon how motherhood has strengthened her marriage to husband Neil Varcoe.  

‘Neil has been so amazing,’ Edwina told The Herald Sun this Sunday.

‘They say you fall in love with your husband again after you have a baby. And that was definitely the case for me,’ she cooed.

The Channel Seven personality, who welcomed Molly after a total of 36 hours in the hospital, hasn’t been shy to speak candidly about struggling with motherhood. 

In her interview with The Herald Sun, Edwina admitted she broke down in tears due to exhaustion less than 24 hours after giving birth.

‘I couldn’t sit down, I couldn’t feel comfortable standing up and you’re walking around like a zombie and you also have to care for and feed this tiny human,’ she said.  

Edwina welcomed Molly a week after her due date, and took to Instagram on December 20th to make the happy announcement.  

‘Meet Molly Matilda Christie Varcoe. Late like her Mum and tall like her Dad’, she wrote next to two adorable photos of the newborn.

‘Molly ’cause we like it. Matilda for Neil’s Great Grandmother. Christie was my Grandmother’s maiden name and my middle name too,’ she explained in the caption. 

The new mother also thanked her friends, family and fans for all their well wishes.  

‘We are exhausted and elated. Neil is still in shock. Thank you for all the well wishes. We all feel very loved xxx,’ she wrote.
