Everton are leading the chase for exciting young Metz midfielder Pape Sarr.

The 18-year old is already a full international for Senegal but his early performances in the French League have alerted a host of Premier League clubs who are keen to prise him away this summer.

Sarr only made his debut in November but his potential is evident with good technical ability, an eye for goal and high energy to play box to box.

Everton have discussed the possibility of a deal though are aware Metz are looking to drive up the price amid rival interest from Aston Villa plus Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle. 

The French club are hoping for £27million. The youngster, who can play anywhere across the midfield, has two goals in 18 appearances after making his debut in November.

He signed a five-year contract with Metz last year but the club now face a battle to keep him.

Everton are looking to strengthen their forward options plus right back and goalkeeper this summer but remain alert to promising talent and Sarr fits that profile.

Norwich’s £30m-rated Max Aarons remains a target for right back though they have also been offered Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier.
