Chocolate fans who are always wishing for new ways to enjoy their favourite treats are in luck, because an Aero Caramel is on the way.

Nestle is releasing the sweet treat which will be available in 100g bars in the next few weeks at major supermarkets across the UK including Tesco, Morrisons, Co-Op and Asda for £1.

The bar is already on sale in Heron Foods, which only has stores in the north of England.

In 2010, Nestlé released an Aero Caramel, in the form of a single bar of bubbly chocolate with a layer of caramel on top, which has since been discontinued.

The 2020 update is a sharing bar, like the classic and mint varieties, with squares of caramel-flavoured bubbly chocolate.

Amy Kendall, Assistant Brand Manager for Aero said: ‘The science and technology behind Aero made it unique from the start – but we continually look for new ways to innovate and delight fans.

‘We believe that Aero Caramel is a delicious new addition to the Aero family and we hope it will soon become another firm favourite.’

Taking to social media, chocolate fans have shared their excitement at the arrival of the new bar.

Writing in the Facebook group Snack Reviews UK, Daniel Christopher Chubb shared an image of the new snack, which saw hundreds of people tagging friends and commenting their excitement.

‘Love Aero’ wrote one, while another declared, ‘Yumm I need to try this out.’

‘That sounds so nice!’ added a third, while another said they ‘need’ one of the bars.

Aero Caramel is being made at Nestlé’s factory in York, which also produces KitKat, Milkybar and Polo as well as milk and peppermint Aero and Aero Bubbles.

Aero was first launched in 1935 as a peppermint-flavoured chocolate bar and this was followed by the milk chocolate format in the 1970s.

Aero Bubbles were introduced in 2005 and last year Nestlé introduced Aero Bliss, a new premium version of Aero which comes as indulgent boxed chocolates that are perfect for sharing.

It’s not the only new treat that chocolate lovers have to look forward to.

Earlier this week, Mars Wrigley UK announced that it’s launching Britain’s first ever flavoured Maltesers product.

The confectionery giant said the chocolate button treat would be ‘a delicious combination of the Maltesers trademark crunch alongside a fresh minty flavour.’

Mint Maltesers Buttons will launch market wide on March 9 and will be available in a range of formats.
