Father spots ‘creepy’ Grinch-like face etched into his Christmas tree – can YOU see it?

A father couldn’t believe his eyes when he unwrapped his new Christmas tree only to find a Grinch-like face staring back at him.

Daniel Martyn, 39, was given the ‘creeps’ when he spotted two eyes on the trunk of the 9ft tree.

He asked his six-year-old daughter to take a look, but she was left so frightened by the face that she asked him to ‘cover it up’ and ‘ran into the kitchen’.

The IT project manager from Gravesend, Kent, said: ‘I can definitely see the Grinch in it – if you stare at it long enough you see a nose as well!

‘But I don’t stare at it for too long as it gives me the creeps!’

Mr Martyn initially thought that someone might have drawn on it, admitting it’s the ‘luck of the draw’ when it comes to picking trees.

He bought the tree from someone at his local pub and said it was too late to go buying another so the family will have to ‘learn to love it’.

They have decided to call it Kris after Kris Kringle – the main character in Miracle on 34th Street.

Mr Martyn said his mother Amanda, 61, suggested that the face could be a loved one who has come to watch over the family.

‘I spoke to my mother and as my grandfather has just recently passed, she said it’s him being sent to watch over us,’ Mr Martyn added.

Mr Martyn’s partner Natasha, 49, is planning to decorate the tree and give Kris something to wear.

He joked that his daughter has suggested putting sunglasses on him.
