FTSE LIVE: Asos smashes £1bn sales mark; Electric car giant Tesla valued at over $100bn; Hotel Chocolat sees Christmas sales jump

Online fashion shop Asos scored over £1billion in sales over the four month period covering Christmas. Total retail sales were 20 per cent higher at £1.07billion compared to the previous year, with around 40 per cent coming from the UK.

Elon Musk’s electric car company Tesla passed a milestone yesterday, after it became valued at over $100billion. It is now the second most value automobile firm in the world after Toyota.

Christmas also provided a boost for Hotel Chocolat, which saw its sales climb 11 per cent in the quarter ending December 29. The chocolatier says they were helped by the opening of 14 stores in the UK, US and Japan.
