Gamers rejoice! Crowds rush into JB Hi-Fi to be one of the first to get the new sell-out PlayStation 5 console – but you can still get your hands on one before Christmas

Hordes of gamers have rushed into electronics stores around the country to be the first to get their hands on the new PlayStation 5 – but only some have succeeded.
The Sony console was launched on Thursday after its release date was delayed by international border closures brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
Some lucky shoppers who pre-ordered the 4K, 825GB, custom SSD gaming system back in September from JB Hi-Fi rushed to pick up the next-generation console at the retailer’s Strand Arcade store on Sydney’s Pitt Street.

For everyone else, sales are available online through stores like Harvey Norman, Big W, The Gamesmen and EB Games.
JB Hi-Fi also announced they were selling the PS5 online but many reported problems when orders opened at 11am.
‘I was literally five minutes early and it never worked, keep getting an error,’ one frustrated customer wrote on the company’s Facebook page.
Others said: ‘Too bad their site doesn’t work,’ and ‘Get to delivery options and “oops an error occurred.”‘
Disgruntled shoppers said they could get the console in the online shopping cart but but were then unable to pay for it at the checkout.
‘If it’s sold out just say it’s sold out, don’t get our hopes up,’ a commenter wrote.
The flagship PS5 console is available for $749, while the disc-less digital edition retails for $599.
Retailers claim that if you order today, the console will arrive before Christmas.

‘The PS5 console will be available to order online only on launch day, Thursday 12th November, for expected delivery by December 15th. PS5 consoles will not be available for in-store purchase. Please check back for further updates,’ Harvey Norman said in an order update.
PS5 accessories include a wireless charging station for its DualSense controllers, a media remote control for those who want to use it to stream video and PlayStation-branded over-the-ear headphones with 3D audio support.
The console will feature an 8-coreA MD Zen 2 CPU, a powerful AMD RNDA 2 graphics processor, 3D audio output and a speedy solid-state drive that will help games load faster.
Sony also unveiled a range of new games, including entries in familiar franchises such as Resident Evil Village, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon 2: Forbidden West, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s fourth-generation Xbox console – the Series X – recently launched in Australia on November 10.
When the PS5 is released this holiday season, it will find itself up against Microsoft’s fourth-generation Xbox range.
