Gemma Collins reveals 2020 is ‘a healthy, meat-free year’ as she whips up a 969 calorie vegan meal

Gemma Collins has revealed she is going vegan for 2020 in a health overhaul. 

Taking to Instagram on Thursday evening, the TOWIE star, 38, who frequently details her weight battles and diet secrets, shared a video of her pal cooking dinner in her house, while going through the vegan-friendly ingredients. 

While she admitted she is on a health kick, Gemma confessed the duo were going to indulge in some garlic bread to go with their pasta, which also featured tofu, pesto and brussel sprouts to begin her animal product-free year.

Since soaring to fame in TOWIE’s second season in 2011, Gemma has widely-discussed her weight and health with fans and the media. 

She caused controversy last year when she revealed she was using ‘Skinny Jabs’ to lose weight before now changing tack to go down the vegan route. 

During the video, Gemma introduced her friend who she revealed was vegan and was cooking her meal, which included toasting peanuts in a pan and air-frying the tofu in her £69.00 Tower air-fryer – which guarantees less fat. 

Although most of her ingredients were extremely healthy, the TV hit did confess that she was going to treat herself to some garlic bread from the Hearty Food Co. – thus lowering the calories than if she chose a different brand.

She said in the video: ‘[Going to] have a slice of garlic bread. Not gonna lie. Gonna put some brussels in it. If anyone’s thinking I wanna change for the better… 

‘I’m gonna show you how to cook this recipe. Guys, brussels are totally underrated. they are stunning, eat your brussels.’

Her pal then showed that he was cooking the tofu in the air fryer, before cooking the nuts in a pan, as he said: ‘Browning me nuts’. 

Gemma then welcomed nutritionist and fellow TV star Gillian McKeith to sample her food as she said: ‘Gillian McKeith – when are you coming for dinner?’

In September last year, Gemma admitted that she would be using her £250 SkinnyJab injections to kick start her diet after crediting them to her three stone weight loss earlier in the year.

Whole Wheat Fusilli – (1 Serving = 90g) – 290 calories 

Firm Tofu – (1 Serving = 81g) – 117 calories

Garlic Bread – (1 Serving = Quarter of a baguette) – 136 calories 

Brussel sprouts – (1 serving = 100g) – 43 calories 

Roasted peanut portion – (roughly) 100 calories 

Sacla Classic Green Pesto –  (1 serving = 100g) – 283 calories 

 

She penned: ‘All these fabulous holidays over the summer have meant I’ve been indulging in fantastic food, from all over the world! I mean, Greek food tastes better in Mykonos, right?

‘But now it’s time to rein all the excesses in and get healthy again and @skinnyjab are going to help me do just that!’

In August, the reality star praised the weight loss jabs, claiming they helped curb her appetite after she started using them in June.

Gemma credited the pricey slimming jabs for her three stone weight loss, which she gained one stone back of during a holiday.

In an interview with Sunday People, the confident boutique owner discussed how the injections are aiding her weight loss journey.

She revealed: ‘I went on the jabs and that has been really good for me. You get injected basically and it curbs your appetite as well so it is handy when you are busy and on the road.’
