Harry Potter’s shocking Quidditch record is revealed – and it’s blowing people’s minds

Given his reputation as an amazing Quidditch player, you’d expect Harry Potter‘s record at the wizarding sport to be impressive.

However fans online are only just realising that JK Rowling‘s famous boy wizard actually had a really disappointing record at the game.

Many have taken to Twitter to share their shock after realising Harry, who is famous in the  books for his Quidditch ability, actually only played a total of nine games – winning seven and losing two.

One person wrote: ‘After thorough investigation, my eyes have been opened I can confirm Harry Potter is the most overrated Quidditch player of all time.’

It comes after one fan, Joseph Swit, who is believed to be from the US, crunched the numbers and revealed the  surprising results on blog platform Medium.

Other fans were equally baffled, with one commenting: ‘Harry Potter only played in nine games in six years?

‘More pullouts and cancellations than matches? Padded record against Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff?’

Another wrote: ‘Harry Potter had a 7-2 Quidditch record.

‘Apparently he’s some people’s GOAT.’

A third commented: ‘Harry Potter’s Quidditch career slander has made my month, bro you have no idea.’

In a resurfaced detailed post, the superfan counted up Harry’s total number of Quidditch matches and looked at the Gryffindor wins and losses during his time at Hogwarts.

He wrote: ‘Over his six years of enrollment at Hogwarts, through a combination of injury, suspension and match cancellations, Harry Potter played in just nine total Quidditch matches for Gryffindor, compiling a record of seven wins and two losses.’

‘Those accomplishments are undoubtedly impressive, but are they really deserving of legendary status?’

Joseph looked at the Quidditch matches which are reported in the books, as we see fewer games in the movies.

Next Joseph analysed each match individually, breaking down Harry’s performance in his nine games for Gryffindor, whilst also taking in factors such as broomstick advantage.

He also examined the four matches Gryffindor played without Harry to see how they fared without the wizard.

In the extremely lengthy post the fan came to the conclusion that in Harry’s first couple of years, when he was on the Nimbus 2000, he is a great player deserving of his reputation.

However, once Harry gets a little older and acquires the Firebolt broomstick, he claimed he didn’t think that Harry was a huge asset to the team.

He said: ‘Harry’s overall record is 7–2, but I honestly think his record would be 5–4 if he doesn’t have the Firebolt, with the year three and year six matches against Slytherin becoming losses.

‘I’m inclined to separate Harry’s Quidditch career into two parts: Nimbus Harry and Firebolt Harry.

‘Nimbus Harry was a legend, but ‘Firebolt Harry’ was just a past-his-prime flier living off his reputation along with his ridiculously fast broomstick.’
