Home and Away set to tackle one of its toughest storylines yet as it welcomes newcomers Laura McDonald and JR Reyne to Summer Bay

Actors Laura McDonald and JR Reyne will soon arrive in Summer Bay. 

And the pair, who will play model Allegra and photographer Emmett, have revealed their storyline will involve ‘disordered eating’. 

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Thursday, Laura confirmed the upcoming controversial story arc to the publication.

‘We definitely delve into disordered eating for sure,’ Laura said.   

Laura said it was a surprise she was chosen for the part with her initially thinking that she did not fit the role.   

‘I am a 25-year-old size 10 woman, so when this audition brief came to me I kind of assumed I was past it age-wise,’ she added.

‘[I’m] also just not in the right size bracket to even be considered for the role. They have done an amazing job.’ 

Laura added the storyline will be ‘real and raw’ with the production team dealing with it in a ‘different’ way. 

Meanwhile, JR chimed in with him saying he believed it was great that Home and Away was shining a light on the issues.

JR previously starred in beloved Australian soap Neighbours along with the limited series, Secret Daughter. 

The new cast members come amid talk that Bec Hewitt could be returning to Summer Bay as a star of the series. 

The actress played Hayley Smith Lawson from 1998 to 2005 with her being a firm favourite on the long-running series.

Bec confirmed to KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O that she wouldn’t be coming back to the series ‘at this stage’ after going on Dancing With The Stars.  

‘Is that going around? I haven’t heard it,’ she told the breakfast radio show.

‘Not at this stage,’ Bec said of reprising her iconic role.
