Homes with discounts of up to 30% in January 2020

The January sales on the high street are fully underway and the housing market is no exception. There are some highly attractive property bargains available, according to experts.

It comes ahead of Brexit at the end of the month, with buyers in some locations reducing the prices of their homes in a bid to secure a sale amid the political uncertainty – while others have simply overpriced their homes in the first place.

The discounts on offer range from £4.7million in London to £35,000 in the village of Mynytho in Wales.

Price slash: The January sales on the high street are fully underway – and there are also some property bargains to be had

Property website Rightmove has picked 10 homes for sale that have seen their asking prices all drop up to around 30 per cent, from across the country.

Miles Shipside, property expert at Rightmove, said: ‘There are hidden gems waiting to be found right across the country and, at this time of year, there are likely to be bargains to be had.

‘But spend your time wisely doing proper research and you may just find the home of your dreams for a cheaper price than you imagined.’

Jeremy Leaf, north London estate agent and a former RICS residential chairman, says: ‘We have seen “on the ground” since the election more confidence among buyers and sellers in the future direction of the housing market.

‘Demand can only remain pent-up for so long as mortgage rates at near record lows and inflation is being contained, contributing to improving affordability.

‘There are certainly opportunities for those sellers who recognise the importance of flexibility and are realistic when agreeing terms and getting a move on.’
