I’m a budget-savvy bride – here’s how I saved THOUSANDS on my wedding flowers by getting them all at Trader Joe’s for just $200

A thrifty bride has left people swooning over her Pinterest-worthy wedding florals – revealing they only cost her $200 from Trader Joe’s.

Megan Tryon tied to knot to her husband, Kaelon, in early September. The couple married in a small, intimate wedding with 30 guests in Ouray, Colorado, with Megan making it as personalized as possible – down to the floral arrangements on the table.

In several videos posted to TikTok, the newlywed explained she didn’t want to spend ‘thousands’ on flowers for her big day, instead opting for flowers from the grocery store.

‘I did call ahead to order. I actually order from three different Trader Joe’s because I was worried that not enough would come in of colors that I wanted,’ Megan explained in one of her videos.

She continued: ‘When you order flowers to Trader Joe’s, you can pick the type of flower, but you can’t pick the color or really the quantity. You can request that they set some aside.’

Megan, whose vision included lots of bright flowers lining the middle of the table in various vases, said she requested dahlias, Gerbera daisies, butterfly ranunculus, country roses, spray roses and chrysanthemums.

She said she called Traders Joe’s a couple of weeks before her wedding, and staff told her to call four days before the event and before noon because that’s when they placed their flower orders.

She admitted it was a little tricky as the store didn’t have a catalogue of what flowers they had available or in season.

‘So I wasn’t actually sure what they would have [which] is kind of frustrating,’ she said. ‘I don’t really live close to Trader Joe’s, so I just kind of guessed based off of what flowers are typically in season right now.’

With all of her own inspiration pictures being of colorful florals, Megan requested a bright color palette when contacting the store — asking for pinks, whites, yellows and oranges.

‘I really wanted, a lot of dahlias, a lot of butterfly ranunculus, and then I just threw in some other little mixer flowers,’ she explained.

‘When you place an order with Trader Joe’s, you can request specific colors and they can try to set those colors aside for you,’ she continued, adding: ‘At least, that’s how it was at mine.’

However, when she arrived at the Trader Joe’s to pick up the flowers, Megan said she actually preferred the flowers that were on display in the store rather than the ones that had been set aside for her.

‘I got there first thing in the morning, so I was able to pick through [the flowers] before they were mostly gone,’ she said. ‘It was super easy and simple.’

Megan picked up her flowers on a Thursday morning, keeping them in water until Saturday when they were ready to use them, asking her nearest and dearest to help with the arrangements on the morning of her big day.

‘We had 30 people at our wedding, and I spent, I think, about $200 on flowers,’ she shared. ‘Honestly, I probably could have spent about $150.’

‘I think they turned out perfect,’ she gushed. ‘They were super cute, very easy, and it was honestly, really fun to put them together the morning of.’

The bride added she didn’t make her own bouquet, leading that up to the professionals, not wanting to ‘stress about getting it perfect’ on her wedding day.

TikTok users loved her cost-effective method, many in disbelief it was possible to pre-order from Trader Joe’s.

‘This!!! I wish I went to a local shop instead of ordering them online! So much cheaper and who doesn’t love arranging flowers?!’ one user commented.

‘Love these, simple but really adds vibes,’ another agreed.

‘Very elegant,’ someone else declared.
