‘I’m never going to walk away – never!’ Defiant Newcastle boss Steve Bruce insists he will NOT resign despite run of 11 games without a win… and brands claims of third assistant manager Graeme Jones being brought in over his head as ‘absolute RUBBISH’

Steve Bruce says he is adamant that he will not resign as Newcastle United manager and remains defiant that the team can re-find some much-needed form.
The Magpies are currently on an 11-game winless run in all competitions dating back to a home win against West Brom on December 12.
After losing to Leeds in midweek, Newcastle sit in 16th place and are just six points off the relegation zone – but Bruce insists he will not resign and will ‘do his utmost to try and turn it around.’

‘First and foremost of course I am a fan and I always want what’s best for the club. And I’m determined to tell the supporters that we’ll get out of this bad run we’re having,’ he told BT Sport, in the build-up to Saturday lunchtime’s clash at Everton.
‘It’s not easy, it’s never going to be easy and it’s never going to be easy for any Newcastle manager because of the great expectation the club has and the unique club it is.
‘I’ll do my utmost to try and turn it round. I’m never going to walk away from it – never! So I’ll keep grinding away and turn it round.’

The club appointed a third assistant manager this week to help Bruce and his coaching staff in ex-Bournemouth coach Graeme Jones.
There were reports that Bruce had not agreed with Jones’ appointment but he labelled those claims as ‘absolute rubbish.’
‘Again that’s negativity,’ Bruce, 60, added. ‘Negativity what surrounds the club and fake news, I’ve used that too often now. Absolute rubbish.

‘Would I really let the club do that to me? Undermine me in that way? I don’t think so.
‘We need to get a result and it’s amazing what that changes round… we hope it’s our turn to start picking up a few wins and that’s what we all need – everybody from the manager to the boardroom to everyone concerned, that’s what we need.’
Newcastle previously beat Everton 2-1 at St James’ Park back in November, with Callum Wilson scoring a match-winning double.
