A mischievous dog tried its best to look innocent when its owner came home to discover toilet roll throughout their house, but a trail leading straight back to the dog gave the game away.

Footage recorded on July 8 in Apex, North Carolina, shows Max the boxer’s owner returning home to discover toilet paper all over the place.

At the start of the video, the doors of a hallway cupboard are open and two toilet rolls are lying on the floor, one of which is suspiciously flatters than the other, as if it had been chewed on.

When his owner asks what happened, Max can barely look him in the eye

As the camera wanders through the house more and more toilet paper is seen lying on the ground either in whole rolls or as chewed up scraps in a pile.

Eventually the camera discovers Max the boxer sitting upright in a brown armchair with his paws resting on the armrest.

Despite his owner approaching, Max doesn’t seem all too interested in catching their eye and tries his best to keep staring straight ahead.

His owner then asks: ‘What did you do?’

Looking rather guilty, Max looks at his owner out of the corner of his eye, still refusing to turn his head.

Max’s owner repeats his question two more times before telling him: ‘That was not very good. That was not a good boy.’

Speaking about the video, Max’s owner said: ‘I discovered that my boxer dog, Max, left a toilet paper trail of destruction through the house.

‘The hall closet was accidentally left open and Max decided to have a toilet paper party with ten rolls all by himself.

‘Boxers are incredibly mischievous and need lots of exercise. It had been raining for a few evenings so he hadn’t been able to get all his energy out so he took it out on some rolls of toilet paper.

‘He is Mr. Personality and often gives awesome facial expressions, just like this. We love him.’
