Jill Biden offered some motherly words of wisdom about divorce to Kelly Clarkson and said the first thing she’s going to do post-pandemic is drink a martini and eat french fries in an endearing first solo interview as First Lady.

Dr. Jill, 69, made the comments during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, which was filmed inside the White House and is due to air on Thursday.

The First Lady and the American Idol winner, who filed for divorce against her ex-partner Brandon Blackstock last June, shared a candid exchange about the challenges of moving on from a relationship, but also the good that can come from change.

Jill, who divorced from her first husband Bill Stevenson in 1975, told Clarkson: ‘I want to tell you Kelly. I mean, this is what I’d say to you if I was your mother.

‘You know, my mother always said to me things are going to look better tomorrow. And if you can take one day at a time – and things will get better.’

Jill then told the singer-turned-host: ‘I look back on it now and I think, if I hadn’t got divorced, I wouldn’t have met Joe. I wouldn’t have the beautiful family that I have now. So, I really think things happen for the best.

‘And I think Kelly, overtime – I don’t know how long it’s been for you – but overtime you heal, and you’re going to be surprised and I can’t wait till that day comes for you.’

‘You’re going to call me up [one day],’ Jill continued, ‘you’re going to call me up and say “Hey, Jill. You were right.”‘

Jill and Joe Biden have often publicly stated that they began dating more than 40 years ago after falling in love on a blind date.

However, as exclusively reported by DailyMail.com in August, Jill actually had an affair with now-President Biden that broke up her first marriage to Stevenson.

Stevenson, 72, told DailyMail.com from his Wilmington Delaware home: ‘I don’t want to hurt anyone. But the facts are the facts and what happened, happened.’

Clarkson, meanwhile, filed for divorce from Blackstock after seven years of marriage last summer and later won primary custody of their two children.

However, he’s seeking substantial spousal and child support, and in December she started another legal battle by accusing him of defrauding her out of millions of dollars.

This is a developing story….
