Juventus first team scout Matteo Tognozzi is in the mix to be Celtic‘s new Sporting Director.

And former Bournemouth and Huddersfield recruitment chief David Webb also wants to be considered for the newly-created post.

Sportsmail understands the Parkhead club have engaged executive headhunters Nolan Partners to assemble a shortlist of candidates for interview.

Manchester City’s Loan and Pathways manager Fergal Harkin – a former Nike executive well known to the Celtic hierachy – has also been linked with the job.

The Parkhead club are preparing to revamp their football operations when chief executive Peter Lawwell retires in the summer.

Scottish Rugby chief Dominic McKay has already been appointed as the new CEO.

And the SPFL champions are also seeking a Director of Football figure to overhaul the club’s footballing culture from top to bottom.

Juve talent spotter Tognozzi worked as a sporting director in Italy’s lower leagues with Rosignano and Pontedera before moving to Russia to work as a scout for Zenit. He subsequently worked in Germany for Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg before returning to his homeland to take up a senior role with Juve.

Webb held a key recruitment role at Swedish side Ostersunds, Huddersfield and Tottenham as well as Bournemouth.

Celtic chairman Ian Bankier has promised to update disgruntled supporters on plans for the future of the club in a video statement to accompany the club’s half year trading results.
