‘I just had a baby, and it was really, honestly because I wanted to get behind something like this had a community that was so inspiring,’ Hudson said, referring to her 25-pound weight loss journey in 2018.
While Hudson hasn’t starred in a movie since 2017’s Marshall, she’ll be back on the big screen later this year.
The actress stars in the upcoming musical dubbed simply Music, which marks the directorial debut of singer Sia, also starring Maddie Ziegler and Leslie Odom Jr.
She also stars in Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon, the latest from filmmaker Ana Lily Amirpour, also starring Ed Skrein and Craig Robinson.
While she’s been away from acting, Hudson has been keeping plenty busy, releasing her first book in 2016, Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body, and Pretty Fun: Creating and Celebrating a Lifetime of Tradition, in 2017.
She also became the ambassador for New York & Company and its Soho Jeans line, while also developing her own fashion line for the company.
The actress also teamed up with her mother Goldie for a capsule collection that benefited MindUp and The Goldie Hawn Foundation.
