Kevin Bacon has created a celebrity-approved social media trend to help stars across the globe urge their fans to take social distancing seriously amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 61-year-old Footloose star posted an Instagram video instructing his followers to follow the Centers for Disease Control’s advisement to stay inside and flatten the infection curve on Wednesday.
‘Hi guys, you know me, right? I’m technically only six degrees away from you,’ the actor smiled in the footage shot from his living room.

‘Right now, like people around the world, I’m staying home because it saves lives and it is the only way we’re going to slow down the spread of this coronavirus.’
He explained: ‘The contact that you make with someone who makes contact with someone else, that may be what makes somebody’s mom or grandpa or wife sick. Everyone of us has someone who is worth staying home for.’
Later in the video, the X-Men: First Class star held up a chalkboard shaped like a hog, that read: ‘#IStayHomeFor Kyra Sedgwick,’ his wife.
In a funny touch, the Emmy Award-winning actress responded by yelling, ‘Kev’ in the background, as he joked: ‘Speak of the devil.’

Before ending the video, which he tapped David Beckham, Elton John, Jimmy Fallon, Brandi Carlile, Demi Lovato and comedian Kevin Hart to do next, the actor explained the challenge.
By Thursday, Beckham, 44, posed with a sign that simply said, ‘#IStayHomeFor VB and my kids.’
The renowned athlete, who is married to Victoria Beckham, nominated his son Brooklyn, soccer coach Gary Neville, his nutritionist, chef Gordon Ramsay and late-night host James Corden.

The Can You Feel The Love Tonight singer, 72, also responded to Bacon’s nomination with an inside look at his chic kitchen and plans to play inside with his kids.
