KIIS star Jackie O Henderson, 45, says ‘day drinking, every day’ is fine due to pandemic

Like many Australians in lockdown, radio star Jackie ‘O’ Henderson is currently in full support of day drinking. 

Speaking on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday, the 45-year-old, who is currently homeschooling her daughter Kitty, eight, spoke about the extraordinary circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic. 

‘I feel now like it is totally acceptable to day drink, every day,’ Jackie said. 

She explained how several women in her mothers group felt the same way after a recent technical error during an online class. 

Jackie said they all joked that it was perfectly fine to have a drink before 9am.  

‘We were getting a little frustrated with the mum’s group figuring out what’s going on. We had technical issues (during online classes),’ she said. 

‘A few were like ”can we just have a wine now to get through the day?” she added, before confirming the messages were sent around at about 8.30am.  

‘No one is frowning on anyone drinking during the day. These are unique circumstances so why not?’ 

Jackie has been open about the trials and tribulations of the coronavirus pandemic, saying it was difficult to do her sometimes racy radio show while homeschooling her daughter. 

Last week, Jackie explained that her workspace was set up in a spare room while Kitty does her homeschooling in the kitchen. 

‘This is what I forget, I am so in my comfort zone here and I’m forgetting there are things she might hear,’ she said.  

Jackie has been honest about her fondness for a drink in the past, admitting she enjoys a couple of vodka mixers in January.  

She told listeners she used to drink a ‘couple’ of vodkas mixed with Solo lemonade each night, but now opts for vodka with still water and lime. 

As of April 29, Australia has 6,748 diagnosed cases of coronavirus with 5,624 recoveries and 89 deaths.
