Kmart Australia has launched pastel blue vintage bicycles strapped with baskets and bells for $149 just in time for summer.

The 1950s-style ‘Paris’ cruiser bikes have just landed in stores – and it rivals brands costing as much as $1,000. 

Perfect for riding around the park or run short errands, the product feature 24-inch wheels, six speed and alloy rims.

The retro-inspired bikes can hold up to 100 kilos and suitable for riders who are at least 142 centimetres tall. 

The retailer has been selling the mint green vintage bikes in stores, with the product selling out almost instantly every time it hits stores.

Dozens of shoppers have been sharing their glowing reviews online, with many saying it’s a ‘beautiful’ vintage bike that ‘rides like a dream’.

‘This pretty women’s bike is lovely to ride. It’s built for comfort and suits women with even the longest of legs. A great buy,’ one wrote. 

Another said: ‘Have had the bike a couple of weeks and love it, I wasn’t 100 per cent sure the basket was sturdy enough for heavier items but it held up surprisingly well. The bike itself is beautiful. My husband was shocked it could be made for that price.’

One mother said she purchased the bike to surprise her 12-year-old daughter on her birthday.  

‘It is a little big but she can ride it fine and will last forever… An amazing vintage cruiser bike for a truly affordable price – basket is an adorable addition. Highly recommend,’ she said.

Many said the bike was ‘very easy to assemble’ while others admitted they were ‘pleasantly surprised’ by the quality of the product.

‘Bought this bike for my wife and she loves it – very easy for her to ride. Assembly wasn’t too difficult so we are very pleased with the purchase,’ one husband said.

Another wrote: ‘Nice design and cool retro look. Takes about 90 minutes to put together’, while one added: ‘Super easy to assemble you just need some tools. Even my partner loved it and ended up getting one for himself as well.’
