‘I have a tiny place and can’t sacrifice the floor space for six weeks so this year I attempted a corner wall hanging tree. And I love it,’ she said.

‘It takes up no space.’

The mum explained that she is assisted by the fact she has very high ceilings. And warned others wanting to make a similar tree not to string the lights or tinsel too tight.

‘I had to remove my first attempt and hang the lights and the tinsel looser.’

The mum revealed how she managed to uses garden string to measure the tree on her second attempt.

And it seems her flat tree, which she says is perfect for people with toddlers, pets and tiny spaces, is a hit with other mums.

‘Genius! We so don’t have the floor space for our tree (or presents not sure who keeps buying them). This would be way more practical but I don’t think I could do without our tree,’ Genna Shaw said.

‘So clever, I love it,’ wrote one mum.

‘What a cute space saving idea,’ said another.

Others agreed the tree would be a great match for their pets.

‘We should do this so the cat can’t wreck it,’ one woman said.

This is just one of the many un-traditional tree ideas floating around this year, including a pre-lit LED tree from Aldi.
