Laura Whitmore wows in a glam selfie ahead of the NTAs

She stepped into the role of Love Island host following Caroline Flack’s decision to step down after her assault arrest late last year.

And Laura Whitmore marked her first National Television Awards as presenter of the ITV2 dating show with a very glamorous selfie on Tuesday evening.

This comes hours after Caroline broke her social media silence after being advised to stay silence ahead of her court case with a post wishing Love Island good luck.

Wow! Laura Whitmore marked her first National Television Awards as presenter of the ITV2 dating show with a very glamorous selfie on Tuesday evening

Laura kept most of her black velvet gown masked in the pouty selfie, but her stunning frock appeared to feature a keyhole section across the back.

The Irish beauty wore her blonde tresses in a 1920s-inspired style, as she teased her glossy locks into loose ringlets, accessorised with a selection of glitzy slides.

Laura opted for a pink pallet of make-up to highlight her pretty features, as she sported a sultry smokey-eye with lashings of mascara.

The embattled TV star recently returned to the UK from LA where she was ‘clearing her head’ ahead of her trial in March. She has been charged with her assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton, 27.

Caroline wrote in an Instagram Stories post on Tuesday afternoon: ‘Good luck to all the team and cast at tonight’s NTAs…it’s such a fun night… cmon @loveisland.’

Caroline quit her role as host of the ITV2 show in December, with her friend Laura Whitmore currently presenting the winter series.

Love Island is competing against The Apprentice, The Circle, Great British Bake Off and Masterchef for Best Challenge Show at Tuesday’s NTAs.

Caroline was pictured on Saturday after returning from a month-long break in LA, with sources claiming she’d jetted to LA to clear her head ahead of her trial in March.

Caroline certainly looked happy and healthy as she stepped out on Saturday – a stark contrast to when she appeared in court on December 12, charged with assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton, 27.

A source claimed the former Love Island host is in a much better place and has given up alcohol in preparation for her TV comeback.

The insider told The Sun: ‘Caroline has not touched alcohol since before Christmas and has been getting to the gym every day.’

The publication also claimed Love Island bosses would like to have Caroline back as host for the next series in the summer, if she is cleared of assaulting Lewis following her trial, which is scheduled to being in March.

The source added: ‘Caroline has been told Love Island want her back for the next series. Laura has done a great job so far but the show’s bosses don’t feel she has the same pull.’

Caroline appeared in court over the incident with her boyfriend in December – where a judge heard she hit the former tennis player over the head with a lamp.

The court was told she read texts on Lewis’ phone that made her think he was cheating on her before the alleged attack.

She and her partner Lewis were both allegedly covered in blood when police arrived at their flat in Islington, North London, on December 12, with Lewis saying in a 999 call that she ‘tried to kill me, mate’, Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court heard.

One officer described the chaotic scene as ‘like a horror movie’.

Lewis was said to have been ‘almost begging the operator to send help’ with his face ‘covered in blood’, while Caroline allegedly had two cuts to her wrist.

After being taken into custody, former X Factor host Caroline – whom the court heard was ‘manipulative’ towards Lewis and accused him of ruining her life – allegedly flipped over a table and had to be restrained on the ground by police.

Her boyfriend was allegedly left with ‘significant head injuries’.

Caroline pleaded not guilty to common assault and the court heard she wanted to ‘spend time’ with him over the Christmas and New Year period, but she was banned from communicating with him until her trial.
