And Rummenigge confirmed Bayern’s interest and revealed Liverpool and Chelsea were also ready to make a summer move.

He told Sky: ‘In addition to Bayern Munich, there are at least two quite attractive clubs interested,’ said Rummenigge on Monday

‘The fact is that the player is interesting, and the fact is that we will almost certainly lose David Alaba at his position. I can’t say if there will be other departures at the position.

‘You have to let things grow in peace. We have a good relationship with Mr. Struth.

‘The player will know what he wants at some point. We have a good relationship with RB Leipzig as well. I have had a conversation with Oliver Mintzlaff.

‘When things become concrete, we’ll talk again.

‘The fact that Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in him proves that he has very good qualities. He can replace David Alaba.’

European champions Bayern have earmarked the 22-year-old as their top target to replace Alaba, who is set to leave on a free transfer.

The Frenchman’s agents, Sascha Breese and Volker Struth, were allegedly spotted entering the underground car park of Bayern Munich’s offices just after 4pm on Thursday.

The pair were reportedly seen leaving the complex at around 7pm on the same evening after a meeting with Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, with BILD claiming the meeting held this week was about Upamecano’s future.

Upamecano’s impressive performances for his current club RB Leipzig have made him one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe.

The 22-year-old established himself as a regular in Julian Nagelsmann’s side last season – helping the club reach the Champions League semi-finals and finish third in the Bundesliga.
