Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists Man United job he turned down has never crossed his mind

‘I’ve never thought about it for one second!’ Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists Man United job he turned down has never crossed his mind as he opens up on ‘really good relationship’ with Sir Alex Ferguson

  • Sir Alex Ferguson tapped up Jurgen Klopp for Manchester United job in 2013
  • Klopp was at Borussia Dortmund at the time and wasn’t sold on Old Trafford
  • Instead, he went to rivals Liverpool in 2015 and has restored former glories
  • But Klopp and Fergie remains good friends and still text each other
  • United will hope to beat Liverpool and move clear at the top on Sunday

Jurgen Klopp‘s unlikely bromance with Sir Alex Ferguson stops short of the Liverpool boss imagining what life would have been like if he’d taken a job at Old Trafford instead of Anfield.

Fergie tapped up Klopp during his Borussia Dortmund days and the pair still text each other regularly and joined forces on Friday night a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Fortunately for Koppites, the German chose Liverpool and has brought the glory days back with Champions League and Premier League wins.

‘Alex and I have contact, He texts to say ‘This is my new number’ and I take it as a big honour. We have a really good relationship.

‘We were friends from my point of view working together for something good and on Sunday, he wants Manchester United to win, and I want Liverpool to win. That is possible (and still be friends).
