Love Island’s Sophie and Mike are branded ‘SNAKES’ by fans

The Love Islanders were asked to vote for who they thought were the two least compatible couples during Friday night’s episode of the dating show. 

And following the tense decision, Sophie Piper and her partner Mike Boateng have been branded ‘snakes’ after they chose to vote ‘tactically’ during the process.

Sophie, 21 and Mike, 28, decided to give one of their votes to Siannise Fudge, 25, and Luke Trotman, 22, despite them being one of the current strongest couples.

Although it appeared that Sophie and Mike voted for them because they knew they would be safe, fans still accused them of being out of order with their vote.

Siannise and Luke only received one vote in total – from Sophie and Mike – however they are now up for the public vote which puts them at risk of elimination.

Following the series of events, viewers took to Twitter to express how they felt about Sophie and Mike’s ‘tactical’ decision.

One fan wrote: ‘That’s just shown that Mike and Sophie are the biggest snakes in the villa. Siannise and Luke T are one of the most compatible couples in the villa!

‘I hope Sophie and Mike get DUMPED from the Island and get a reality check #loveisland.’

Another person said: ‘Did snakes Sophie and Mike really just choose Siannise and Luke. Wtf kinda tactics are they? #LoveIsland.’ 

A third person wrote: ‘Who does Sophie htink she is with her tactical thinking in voting for Luke T and Siannise! Go Home! #LoveIsland. 

Along with Luke and Siannise, Luke Mabbott and Jess Gale, Wallace Wilson and Rebecca Gormley, and Mike Boateng and Sophie Piper are all at risk of elimination. 

The Islanders were faced with a tough decision, as each couple had to vote for the two pairs they believe are the least compatible.

Four couples – Luke M and Jess, Luke T and Siannise, Wallace and Rebecca, and Mike and Sophie – all received at least one vote from their fellow Islanders, and so now face a public vote to determine which couple will be booted from the villa. 

The other three couples – Nas Majeed and Demi Jones, Finley Tapp and Paige Turley, and Callum Jones and Shaughna Phillips – didn’t receive any votes, and so are safe from elimination as their co-stars all believed they have genuine connections with each other. 

The results of the public vote will be revealed during Sunday’s show, where one of the couples will be sent home.  

Wallace and Rebecca received the maximum possible six votes – from every couple except themselves – after the pair admitted during the episode they aren’t attracted to one another and don’t have a connection. 

Mike and Sophie are also at risk as they are the only couple in the villa not giving love a try, as they are in a friendship couple.

And Luke M and Jess have been drifting apart recently, as Mike has been trying his luck with Jess and causing a rift between the couple.  

Elsewhere, As the battle for Jess Gale’s affections rumbles on, Mike pulled Luke M for a chat over why he pulled Jess away from him earlier in the evening.

Mike stated: ‘That was a bit frosty,’ Luke hit back: ‘There’s only so much you can take. I know you’re going to talk to her, but pulling her so much today…’

Quick to respond, Mike replied: ‘Have I? Or has she just gravitated towards me?

‘You came up mid conversation, sat down interrupted and then grabbed her. Fair enough my arm was around her, the girl was cold. You didn’t provide a jacket for her, Mr Gentleman… 

‘Naturally she’ll pick me because I’m more of her type. To me it seems you’re a bit insecure. 

Taken aback, Luke responded: ‘Let’s let this run its natural course. I know you’re going to chat to her and stuff. We’ll just have to see how it pans out.’

Meanwhile, Jess, 20, is having second thoughts of her own as she tells the girls: ‘I think I could fancy Luke. I think I want to fancy Luke.

‘I’m happy with him and I like the way things are going and I’m hopeful that things are going to go well.

‘I need to give it more time. Now, my doubts with Luke could potentially push me towards Mike.’ 

Mike joined the conversation and told Jess that he gets that Luke feels ‘threatened’.

She replied: ‘I just don’t know, it’s so awkward! Because I’m with Luke he’s doing all the right things, I trust him. I’m going to give it all my all.’

Elsewhere Luke pondered in the Beach Hut: ‘I think the way Mike’s gone about it is disrespectful. Some of the things he comes out with are just beyond me.’

Shaughna is seen chatting to Paige about the situation and fills her in that Mike would have wanted to pick Jess over Sophie and Leanne. 

Moments later, Sophie offered Shaughna some reassurance when it comes to Callum as she admits that she always chooses boys that make her feel ‘invisible’.

She joked that when the boys come outside Finn will run to Paige to say hello, whereas Callum will run to the larder to get another drink.

However Sophie was quick to insist that she does think Callum likes her he just doesn’t know how to show it. 

Following their chat, Shaughna and Callum mulled over the dispute as she confided in him that she often feels like he puts Sophie’s feelings ahead of hers.

While insisting that he doesn’t, he admitted he just wants Sophie to feel comfortable after Connor left the villa earlier this week.

Nas and Demi revealed to their fellow Islanders that they had shared a cheeky snog earlier in the evening, with both the girls and boys celebrating with the couple.

Mike ran to give Jess a kiss goodnight and joked he had to dash off quickly because he didn’t want to ‘get in trouble’.

The next morning the boys tried to impress their girls by making breakfast for them.

Demi received avocado on toast from Nas, as she admitted she thought it was really sweet as she freaked out behind the scenes in the Beach Hut.

However Wallace’s breakfast for Rebecca fell flat, after she revealed she didn’t like avocado and refused to eat the meal.

Rebecca mocked the breakfast behind his back and joked to the girls that she can’t see it going very far if he can’t get the food right.

Wallace confided in Luke T and M that he doesn’t feel like he’s getting much back from Rebecca and things they are drifting apart more each day.

Luke M and Jess broke the news to Rebecca that Wallace feels like she isn’t putting any effort into their coupling, why she admitted she feels the same.

Rebecca confronted Wallace about what she had been told by the other Islanders, as he grappled to clear up the confusion and tell her neither of them had made any effort.

They sealed their conversation with a very awkward hug. 

Later in the episode, Callum – who has never had a girlfriend before – discussed making things official with Shaughna.

Asking his fellow contestants Nas and Luke T for advice on ‘how it [becoming official] happens,’ while chatting at the bar, Luke T asked Callum: ‘Are you exclusive?’ 

Callum insisted: ‘Yeah, deffo,’ but then asked: ‘Do you have to ask that question, or does it just happen?’ 

The boys burst out laughing at Callum’s sweet naivety as they explain: ‘You have to say…’

Meanwhile, Sophie teased Shaughna about being ‘in love’ with Callum as she quizzed: ‘What’s it like to be in love…?’ before quickly adding: ‘Do you see yourself being Callum’s girlfriend?’

Shaughna confessed that she does see herself as Callum’s ‘girlfriend’ and has her sights firmly set on the tattooed hunk.

She says: ‘Yeah, I suppose.. obviously I came in here to find someone. But I didn’t think I would. I’m not looking for anyone else.’

The atmosphere in the villa suddenly turned tense as Nas announced that the Islanders had to vote for the two least compatible couples.

Mike told Sophie that he hasn’t even been long before making his last hard decision, while Sophie admitted it’s ‘so bad’.

Luke M and Jess admitted that despite having their tiffs Shaugna and Callum are a strong couple.

All the couples appeared to unanimously appeared to agree that Siannisse and Luke T were growing stronger by the day.

Jess and Luke M appeared to have a lengthy decision over who they would be voting for, as the blonde beauty seemed adamant she wouldn’t be voting for Mike.

However she reluctantly agreed to vote for him in the end.

Wallace and Rebecca, Mike and Sophie, Luke M and Jess and Siannisse and Luke T all received votes and were therefore up for the public vote.
