Love Island’s Sophie shares steamy kiss with bombshell Connagh

Tensions rose in Thursday’s Love Island as Connor admitted he sees new arrival Connaugh as a ‘massive threat’ for Sophie’s affections.

Connagh, 27, chose Sophie, 21, and Shaughna, 25, to go on dates with when he got to the villa with fellow newbie Finley and appeared to hit it off with both.

In a game of beer pong, Connagh was dared to ‘kiss the two Islanders you would have a threesome with’, leading him to lock lips with Sophie and Siânnise, 25.

Love triangle: Tensions rose in Love Island as Connor admitted he sees new arrival Connagh as a ‘massive threat’ for Sophie’s affections after the pair kissed in a game of beer pong

Feeling protective over Sophie, Connor, 25, asked to speak with the model after the game came to an end.

Asked about his date with Sophie, Connagh said: ‘She said: “It’s early so I’m not going to be exclusive or anything like that”, which is fair enough.’

Unimpressed, Connor said: ‘It’s not idea because I do like the girl.’

Trying to reassure his fellow Islander, Connagh replied: ‘I wouldn’t go and just start chatting to her behind your back or that.’

After the pair spoke, Connor admitted the beach hut that he sees Connagh as a ‘threat’ and is unsure if his relationship with personal assistant Sophie will be OK.

He said: ‘I feel a massive threat from Connagh because he’s such a good looking lad. Even though I spoke to Sophie, I’m still not 100pc sure things are going to be alright.’

Viewers took to social media to have their say, with some arguing that Connor was getting too worked up over Sophie and Connagh.

One fan wrote: ‘Connor is draining Sophie and she isn’t even his girlfriend?! This situation is giving me bad vibes man.’

Another said: ‘Connor really does need to breath, chill man!’ while another added: ‘Sophie needs someone relaxed and chilled unlike Connor.’

Others defended the 25-year-old, saying: ‘Why is everyone getting annoyed at Connor? Since when is commitment and caring about your relationship a bad thing?’

Before her date, Conor said: ‘Obviously I want Sophie to be happy, but we had a good thing going. I’m excited to see her and see what she’s saying.

‘It’s just hard isn’t it? But if she’s more happy with someone else then I’d rather her be happy with someone better suited.’

She told Connagh: ‘I feel like I am happy with Connor. But obviously we’re only a couple of days in so it would be silly to close myself off completely, so we’ll have to see how the next couple of days go.’

Following her date, Sophie approached Connor and told him that he didn’t have anything to worry about because she was still interested in him.

She said: ‘I just feel like I wasn’t interested. I’m not dumping you just yet. I want to carry on enjoying myself with you.’

‘Thank you for reassuring me,’ Connor said, before adding in the beach hut: ‘I was so surprised, I was genuinely shocked.

‘It just shows what we’ve got. It’s proven to me that she is keen on me. I know where I stand.’

However, after she spotted the two men going for a chat, Sophie told Callum she doesn’t want to have to constantly reassure Connor that she has feelings for him.

She said: ‘If I’m not allowed to have banter with my friends, that’s a problem. I don’t want to have to reassure him because that’s going to put me in a bad mood.’

Callum replied: ‘I think he does like you a lot.’

Seemingly worried over how quickly their relationship is progressing, Sophie said: ‘It’s just so scary. It’s been a couple of days.’

On Wednesday, Sophie cheered as she heard Connagh and Finley were joining the villa – while seething Connor branded her actions ‘muggy’.

However fans took to Twitter to claim Connor was being ‘controlling’ and exhibited ‘control freak psycho vibes’ after the pair’s spat – which came one day after they enjoyed a steamy kiss in bed.

Taking the boys aside for a chat, Connor said: ‘This is muggy she went “yes”, she threw her arms in the air when she found out.

‘Don’t be telling me you like me and then put your arms in the air. The way she’s acting is driving me mental.’

Blissfully unaware of the situation unfolding behind her, Sophie said: ‘It would be funny to see Connor’s reaction if we went on a date and one of the new guys chose me.’

Pulling Sophie for a chat, Connor said: ‘Just be honest with me about what you just did then.

Sophie responded: ‘I was winding you up. I’m just winding you up.’

Connor said: ‘I didn’t want to argue, it just wound me up. It would wind you up if it was the other way around.’

Sophie said: ‘You’ll know when I’m being serious. What do you want me to do, not do anything when I hear these boys are coming in?

He retorted: ‘No just not f*****g jumping around saying you cant wait.’

Sophie exclaimed: ‘I was just joking with the girls! Leanne did the same thing and she’s with Mike.’

Twitter erupted after the heated exchange with many comparing Connor to obsessive Joe (Penn Badgley) in hit Netflix show, You.

Love Island narrator Iain Stirling told Capital Breakfast he thinks Connor’s reaction to Sophie getting excited over new boys was an example of ‘toxic masculinity’.

Iain said: ‘He was talking to Sophie last night through gritted veneers. I think there’s a little bit of sort-of toxic masculinity going on there a bit, man, it’s not a nice trait…

‘And it’s a trait that a lot of men demonstrate and it’s a thing that a lot of men need to work on.’

At the end of Thursday’s episode, it was revealed that a female islander will be dumped from the villa on Friday after the first re-coupling of the series.

Love Island continues on ITV2 on Friday at 9pm.
