Neighbours star Madeleine West is forced to do a live cross on the Today show from a truck stop BATHROOM after getting stuck at the Queensland border

Proving it’s not all glitz and glamour in the world of showbusiness, Madeleine West was forced to do a live TV cross from a truck stop bathroom on Friday.

The Neighbours star, 39, had been scheduled to appear on the Today show but was unable to make it to her destination in Queensland because of state border closures.

‘Just did a live cross to @thetodayshow to promote the @asrc1 #telethon tomorrow… from a coffee shop staff bathroom…’ she explained on Instagram.

‘I got stuck at the border control crossing into Queensland, so pulled into the nearest servo seeking help, where the kind staff at Zarraffa’s Coffee set me up with Wi-Fi, an almond latte and use of their quiet powder room,’ she added.

But rather than being angry about the situation, Madeleine said it was an example of humanity ‘at its best’.

She added: ‘This is such a demonstration of mankind at its best: man being kind… and how the smallest acts of kindness cost little, but to the recipient are priceless.’

She also included a photo of herself in the bathroom, with her laptop propped open on the toilet lid as she crouched down on the floor.

The actress and director appeared made up for her TV appearance, as her takeaway coffee cup sat beside her.

Madeleine was appearing on the program to discuss her participation in the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre telethon on Saturday.

In an editorial for 9Honey on Friday, Madeleine said the recent lockdown had made her more low maintenance when it came to her appearance.

‘You see, my poor legs are so whip-lashed, weed-whacked and grass-slashed I doubt I’ll ever take a razor blade to them again,’ she wrote.

‘I’m so utterly buggered by the time I get home my last priority is aesthetic maintenance.’
