MAFS’ Jessika Power throws support behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

‘I want to step away from the spotlight too’: MAFS’ Jessika Power throws her support behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – admitting she also struggles with fame when fans approach her at the supermarket

Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power has thrown her support behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after stepping down from their senior Royal duties.

Following The Duke and Duchess of Sussex‘s decision to shy away from the spotlight going forward, the Australian reality star has revealed she sympathises with them.

‘I definitely understand why they’re doing this. They’ve been slammed since the day they got together and have a baby now. Sometimes I want to step away from it all too,’ Jessika told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday.

The controversial television personality, 28, said she hopes the Sussex’s decision to live between the UK and North America brings them happiness and privacy.

She explained that she regularly wishes she could also retreat from her own public profile, after finding fame on the Nine social experiment show in January.

‘Every time I go to my local IGA [Supermarket] some old man will want to take loads of pictures of me to show his grandchildren,’ she laughed.

‘Or a group of young people will want selfies and ask hundreds of questions,’ added Jessika, clarifying she loves her fans and their support, but is sometimes in a rush.

However, Jessika believes that fame has more positives than negatives, and she is not likely to follow in Prince Harry and Meghan’s footsteps.

‘I’ll think about it, but then I’ll get invited to something great or be able to do something good with my platform.’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their plans to ‘step back as “senior” members of the Royal Family’ in a statement on their official Instagram account on Wednesday evening.

They wrote: ‘After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.

‘We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.

‘We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.

‘This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.

‘We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.’
