Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the ropes at Old Trafford after it was reported that Manchester United players are now growing frustrated with his ‘basic’ training sessions.

The Red Devils have started the season in terrible form and have taken just three points from three games, putting them in 16th place in the Premier League.

This weekend United travel to Newcastle in hope of putting to rest the demons of a recent 6-1 thrashing by Tottenham Hotspur and former manager Jose Mourinho, but unrest is already breaking out within the ranks.

According to the Independent, one player this week privately told a friend that ‘training is so basic’ and ‘lacking in creativity.’

It is also added that Solskjaer is said to feel ‘insecure’ at the moment regarding United’s form and his position as manager.

In the next month United face crunch fixtures which could make or break Solskjaer’s tenure as manager.

With the return of the Champions League United face arduous away trips to Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir, before hosting RB Leipzig at home.

In domestic duties United will soon go up against Chelsea and Arsenal at home before meeting Carlo Ancelotti’s resurgent Everton at Stamford Bridge.

It is also reported via the Independent that sources claim there is now a ‘malaise’ around the squad, with belief levels dipping by the week.

Last season United were defeated when they traveled to St James’ Park, which triggered a poor run of results that once again brought Solskjaer’s position under question.

Reports claim United have maintained contact with the representatives of former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, who remains out of work since departing North London in November 2019.

United chief Ed Woodward is still understood to back Solskjaer, though is under mounting pressure to fix the club’s current predicament.

In recent weeks Woodward has felt the wrath of supporters after overseeing what was deemed to be a failure of a summer transfer window.

United brought in Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani as additions to the senior side, though were unable to land top target Jadon Sancho despite months of negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.
