Margot Robbie admits she was ‘so panicked’ at reading Brad Pitt’s speech at BAFTAs she forgot to write one for herself

She found herself in the spotlight giving a speech on behalf of Brad Pitt at the BAFTAs in London on Sunday night.

And during an appearance on Good Morning America Tuesday, Margot Robbie admitted she had been ‘so panicked’ about standing in for the hunky star.

The situation had her so flustered that the Australian actress, nominated for two roles, forgot to prepare an acceptance speech for herself in case she won.

Did a favor for a friend: On Good Morning America Tuesday, Margot Robbie admitted she had been ‘so panicked’ about standing in for Brad Pitt at the BAFTAs in London Sunday night

Robbie, 29, told GMA that the whole deal with Pitt, who starred with her in Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, was a very last minute thing.

‘He, like the night before, was like ‘Can you do my speech for me? I can’t be there,’ and I was so panicked about his speech that I didn’t even think about preparing one for myself,’ she said.

‘I was up for two, for both films in my category, and it wasn’t until I was in the car on the way there that I was like ‘Oh my gosh, I hope I don’t win because I don’t have anything to say,” she added.

Pitt won best supporting actor for his role in the Quentin Tarantino movie and is now favorite to repeat his success at the Oscars on Sunday.

Robbie had been nominated twice in the best supporting actress category, for Bombshell and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, but lost out to Oscar favorite Laura Dern for Marriage Story.

Accepting Pitt’s award, Robbie explained to the audience in London that the actor, 56, couldn’t make it to the awards show ‘due to family obligations.’

His speech, though, raised eyebrows as he joked about Brexit – ‘Hey Britain. Heard you just became single. Welcome to the club!’ – and about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leaving the UK for Canada – saying he plans to call the award Harry because he was looking forward ‘to taking it back to America’.

Robbie was on GMA as part of her publicity tour for her new movie Birds of Prey in which she reprises the comic book role of Harley Quinn.
