Verna Kessler, who was affectionately called ‘Narnie’ by her grandchildren, passed away on April 13 aged 92.

Margot’s maternal grandparents, Verna and Herbert, reportedly had a significant influence on her childhood.

Back in 2019, Margot and her mother recalled a story about her late grandfather in an interview with Vogue magazine.

The Neighbours star said her mother told her of a time when her grandparents held a dinner party and Herbert offered some words of wisdom when the chatter turned into gossiping.

Margot described the story as being a ‘life lesson’ for her.

‘They were talking about someone and gossiping about someone,’ Margot said.

‘And Grandy said, “well, he’s not here to defend himself right now, so let’s talk about something else”.

‘I want to be that type of person who hears people gossiping and says let’s talk about something else,’ she added.

She sweetly added: ‘I think between you, Grandy and so many people in our family, I have a lot to live up in terms of being a good person.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted a representative of Margot for comment in relation to this story.
