Mark-Paul Gosselaar feels ‘gracious’ to reunite with former on-screen flame Tiffani Thiessen

After hinting that his former on-screen flame Tiffani Thiessen would appear in the Saved by the Bell spin-off in some capacity, Mark-Paul Gosselaar has confirmed their characters will reunite for the first time since 1993.

In an interview with TV Line on Sunday, the 46-year-old star confirmed he worked with Thiessen on the reboot for NBCUniversal’s steaming service Peacock and said, ‘As far as I know, she will be in an episode or two with me.’

While her screen time may seem minimal, the former teen heartthrob reminded fans, ‘She was, at the time working’ on Netflix‘s Alexa & Katie.

Back together: In an interview with TV Line, the 46-year-old star confirmed he worked with Thiessen and added, ‘As far as I know, she will be in an episode or two with me.

As for his big return to Bayside High, he’s just grateful he was able to participate on the NBC reprisal at all.

During the interview, Gosselaar pointed out he is a series-regular on a competing network for his role on ABC’s hit show Mixed-ish.

‘I’m super gracious that they’re allowing me to do that,’ he stressed, which according to the series’ official logline will kick off with his character Zack Morris landing in hot water, as the governor of California.

While it is unclear whether Zack has remained with his high school sweetheart Kelly Kapowski-Morris, one of the former scheming student’s new policies will open the doors to Bayside High, after closing too many low-income high schools.

Thiessen, who shot to fame in the late Eighties in the iconic role, played Gosselaar’s love interest for four seasons on the popular series that ended in the early Nineties and followed the lovebirds’ group of high school students and principal, Mr. Belding.

Originally the teen sitcom was confirmed to be moving on without her, and in September, she told Us Weekly, ‘I didn’t know anything about it.’

‘It seems like everyone is doing a reboot, these days. It’s, like, popular, I guess,’ she told the outlet, before revealing she wouldn’t have been into the idea.

The You’re Missing It! author added: ‘I’m a girl that likes the originals. But that’s me, though. I’m nostalgic that way. But I’m sure people are going to be excited about it. It seems almost popular to redo a show.’

The popular series was actually a spin-off on Good Morning, Miss Bliss (which aired from 1988 to 1989.)

Thiessen was not the only cast member to not snubbed, as Saved by the Bell alum Lark Voorhies also revealed she was excluded.

‘I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion, as well as other cast members events,’ the actress revealed on The Dr. Oz Show earlier this month.

She added: ‘With that in mind, I am truly thankful for having had the chance to work on a show that has been so successful.’
